Hello and welcome to my latest blog on the planets and us!
Isn’t this year going fast? How is your timing working out so far?
As usual I am here to help you with timing your projects and start ups and decisions. Just as importantly I can have a look at your inner map and compass! It is so easy in this busy world to go off road and miss sign posts.
I celebrate 40 years – a Ruby anniversary – this year of working as a timing adviser and astrologer. The past four decades have seen so much change in the world and my work has changed accordingly. Astrology – the language of the stars – is an ancient subject still modern and pertinent to life.
Here is an overview of this time period which I hope you find helpful and resonates with your inner timekeepers.
Cycles and timing exist to help us align with our bodies, growth and relationship with life. Life moves in time frames.
Time in our 3 dimensional world exists so that everything doesn’t happen all at once! Yet even though our bodies and hearts know this, showing us quickly via illness, stress and anxiety that our ‘clever’ minds are not recognising limits, rhythm and rest, we are indeed the only species who seem not to obey our diurnal cycles.
In this highly wired world there are many people feeling constantly on the edge, blaming others and thinking too much instead of manifesting.
“The moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred… unforeseen incidents, meetings, and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would come his way”. J W von Goethe
SPRING INTO SUMMER
This month of May sees fertile, communicative energies to the fore. This is a good time for reaching out and forming dialogues which encourage resolutions and future planning. The new Moon on the 4th May in Taurus encourages inventive thinking and seeding of plans. Around the middle of the month use that time period for intuitive and pleasant social contacts. The left and right hemispheres of the brain align nicely and you can make good progress with finance and or creative ventures.
In July on 2nd and 21st respectively, there are solar and lunar eclipses. An important month then for clearing paths and realising what is ready for change and leaving behind. The past is another country, it is said, and timely directional change personally and in governments and corporations will emerge.
GIANT STEPS
History has time frames too. As we move towards 2020 we witness the planets furthest from the Sun forming significant conjunctions to one another.
Meetings of these colossal giants represent beginnings and closures of social patterns and cultural attitudes. New Time Spirits are ushered in. Transition times are always vulnerable times so gentleness with self and others becomes a strength rather than a weakness. Making that intention on awakening each morning might prove valuable.
Saturn and Pluto are moving in to form such a conjunction. They meet on the same degree of the zodiac at the end of this year. They have a 32-37 Year cycle. The last time they met in that union was 1982-3 and before that in 1947 and in 1914-15. Lessons to be learnt here as Saturn likes structure and stability and Pluto likes to de construct and transform with Pluto’s key phrase being ‘transform or die.’
A re-mapping of the outer world and our inner geography change what role we want to present to the world… Just as with the earlier cycles mentioned.
An important conversation!
Jupiter – the expander- and Pluto line up as we enter 2020. That conjunction has a 13 Year cycle and was last in force in 2007. Look back at that time? Jupiter was in its ‘home’ sign, Sagittarius, then as it is now. Hopefully we can connect with the teacher that Jupiter is, and learn important lessons of gratitude.
TWO TEACHERS MEET
The Jupiter/Saturn conjunction – they get together every 20 years in their cycle – has always been significant for shifts of cultural attitudes and big changes politically. Towards the end of 2020, they meet again. These planets represent our optimistic and critical teachers. Rushing forward and being cautious can work together if we listen to them!
The axis of the zodiac signs, Cancer and Capricorn, are the game changers as well this year and with those planets, including Pluto, in the sign of Capricorn in these coming times, big governmental and corporation changes are on the agenda. Also an opportunity to address the inner parent/child archetypes.
This axis is all about re-forming and re- building. It is the soul’s journey of initiation and growing from needy child to responsible parenthood. A look at how we treat those we put in leadership and in power may be overdue. People in those roles are due for changes too with Capricorn, being the sign that governs and manages, right through 2020.
URANUS – OUR INNER MAVERICK AND BREAKTHROUGH CHARACTER
The awakener Uranus has ushered on stage a new personality recently. In its 84 Year cycle, it enters a new sign every 7 years.
In May 2018 it was in the early degrees of the earth sign Taurus until November, then it slipped back into Aries and re-entered Taurus on March 6th residing there now until 2026. Uranus can make insecure whatever it touches and awakens us to change. Pot bound conditions come up for attention. Looking at our attitude to richness in all its forms and saying goodbye to poverty consciousness as an attitude of mind will be welcome.
CRACKS ARE WHERE THE LIGHT GETS IN
Taurus rules our resources, bodily needs, what we consume and our comforts. It is no surprise climate change, plastic and the environment in general are front line news now. Climate change protesters recently have mirrored the rebellious and ‘awakener’ side of Uranus. As Uranus is our inner inventor and maverick, we will find we can be endlessly innovative and resourceful.
That is the lovely thing about human beings – we are such survivors and so adaptable. Don’t let us forget that! And cracks are where the light gets in…
REFLECTION
July 8th to 2nd August sees the next time Mercury is retrograde and then 2nd to 21st November. They are good times to use the prefix ‘re’ and to pause more. The universe doesn’t want us to keep pushing forward. A dance, a piece of music must have pauses for a more enjoyable experience!
Even when we look up at the canopy of the stars, they are only distinct beautiful patterns because of the spaces around them. So our wise cosmos encourages us to take a step back and use our intuitive mind as much as our logical one.
The month of March this year saw the former retrograde period and, in the sign of Pisces with its ruler Neptune involved, a fair amount of apathy and confusion – as well as creative ideas which this later spring are getting more clarity with now.
As any gardener knows pruning dead, stuck energy this year for new, healthier and thus stronger structures is essential. Extended moments of truth occur to keep us on track. Recognising we are part of the tapestry and web of the universe we have no need to feel alone. When we truly wake up to that knowledge how much easier it will be to feel more compassion, trust and a sense of community.
The vocabulary of time allows us to make sense and be present with the bigger and smaller cycles which permeate this beautiful Cosmos. We are here for an allotted time and cooperating with willingness to find solutions out of difficulties rather than being fearful or reactionary, aids us all individually and for the bigger picture.
Including the soul and remembering to nurture it in all we do will help us a lot in these coming times.
“The soul of each one of us is sent that the universe may be complete.” Plotinus
